Felt like summer!
What a fun weekend we had. It was 73 degrees and Sawyer got to really explore the outdoors for the first time. I found some hand me down shoes from our friend Otis and we set him loose out in the jungle that is our back yard. He loved crawling around in the grass, pulling himself up on the fence and finding sticks. Of course there were plenty of attempts at eating rocks, but I was right there to snatch them away. As a result, he would arch his back and scream for 2 seconds until he realized there was much more to see and then moved on. We took him on lots of walks, a run around Greenlake, and swinging in the park. He also helped Papa plant peas and green beans in the garden (holding the seed packet counts as helping when you are only 9 months). He was totally wore out from all of the outdoor fun and was passed out an hour before his bed time both nights this weekend. Aaaaagh, I hope this weather sticks around.

Crawling in the Tulips
Sawyer and I had a little adventure this Tuesday just the two of us. We woke up to sunshine and decided to drive up to La Conner to see the tulip fields. Sawyer slept the hour an half it took to drive up there, and was ready to go when we got to the fields. We went to Tulip Town and I decided to take the stroller out since I was by myself. I was worried that the ground might be too muddy to sit Sawyer on the ground for pictures. We started out great, but of course when we got the farthest out in the field possible the stroller got stuck in the mud, and you know this is exactly when Sawyer decides to have a meltdown. It was actually quite comical. Finally I had him in one arm and I was dragging the stroller behind me with the other. I am sure I got a lot of looks, especially since Sawyer was screaming. Once we got back to dry land, I sat Sawyer in between the rows of tulips. Lucky for me he was way more excited about the rocks and sticks, then the tulip blooms. So no flowers were destroyed as a result of our visit! :)
After a few hours in the tulips it started getting a little windy so we headed to downtown La Conner and met up with my friend Krystal and her family. Brett is her 11 month old and he was so friendly at lunch. He kept sharing his lunch with Sawyer. The other people in the restaurant were loving it!

One tooth!
Sawyer has always loved to hold on to our electric tooth brushes when Hani and I are brushing out teeth. Now that he has one tooth, Papa decided to put a new brush head on his tooth brush so Sawyer can join in the fun.

Swingin'
We went to the park in Bellevue today to meet up with Joana, Kilee, and their kids. It was a beautiful park. We walked around the man made lake looking at ducks, and played at the playground. It was a gorgeous day. Natalie even spent part of the time pushing Sawyer in the swing. Amelia is lucky to have such a fun big sister.
We had brought a picnic and Sawyer got to crawl around in the dirt a little. Just as we started packing up a few clouds started to roll in and the wind picked up. While I was strapping Sawyer into his carseat it started to sprinkle, and by the time I hit the freeway, Sawyer was passed out and it was pouring. I guess we had really good timing!
If you look closely you can see my first tooth poking through! I have been working hard on it this last week! -Sawyer

Happy Easter
Sawyer woke up this morning to a Cheerio filled Easter egg in his crib. He alternated between shaking it, hitting on the crib rail, and trying to fit the whole thing in his mouth. He seemed to think it was quite fun. We did a little Easter egg hunt for him in the living room too and he played with the eggs. He accidentally sat on one, breaking it open, and then ate the cheerios off the carpet, but he never figured out how to open them himself. Next year I am going to have to get more creative with what I put inside once he realizes he can open them. It was definitely a beautiful day and a pretty special Easter for our family.
Yep that's him with an entire half of an egg in his mouth!

Sawyer goes to the aquarium.
Sawyer and I went to the Seattle Aquarium for the first time today. We met up with a bunch of friends: Joana, Rachel, and Nathan, as well as Kilee, Natalie and Amelia. It was great fun and the kids all seemed to love the fish and underwater sea creatures. They also really liked eating their lunch while chatting with the scuba diver in the fish tank. Unfortunately it was spring break, so it was extremely packed for a Thursday afternoon, but Sawyer lasted for 3 hours, so I think we can mark the aquarium down as a success. We will definitely go back.

A whole chicken leg!
I think Sawyer was a little offended when Dr. Jackson weighed him last week at his 9 month appointment and told him his 18 pounds and 7 ounces, only put him in the 10th to 25th percentile. This week he has been taking his solids very seriously. For example, today he had an egg yolk, some cream of wheat, and a whole banana pancake for breakfast, lunch was a beef dip sandwich and carrots, and for dinner we went to Franklin and Ali's and he ate a whole chicken leg, potato, and pears for dinner. This kid isn't messing around any more.
This was last week when he devoured a bowl of pasta, cherry tomatoes, and tuna. I think his portion was bigger than Hani's.
