Adorable
I don't know what's going on but over the last two days Sawyer has been excessively loving towards his sister. He helps her up and brushes her off when she falls, fights with me because HE wants to share his ice cream with Reese and not me. It's very strange but I am trying to just enjoy it and not be watching out for the next moment that he might body slam her. Today Grammie shut the door to the bathroom (seriously, does she think she is allowed privacy?) and Reese started bawling and ran away from the door and straight into Sawyers arms. Cutest moment EVER!

Wild Kratts Adventure
I had such a great time planning Sawyer's 4th birthday party! He wanted his party to be Wild Kratts. My mom and I made creature power suits for all 17 kids, and I had 4 challenges for them. They earned a kangaroo creature power disc by jumping in pillow cases 30 feet. A kangaroo can hop 30 feet in one jump. They earned their shark powers by eating a small shark off a fishing pole with no hands. Sharks super power is that they eat everything, even smaller sharks. The kids also earned cheetah, and frog creature power discs. Surprisingly, most of the kids had fun participating in the challenges. We were also right next to Greenlake wading pool, so the kids got to get some water play in too. Nathan, Ellie, Nala, Ana, Hazel, Otis, Macy, Tristan, Kristina, Natalie, Amelia, Obadiah, Sofia, Riley, Brett, Enrique, and Natalie all made it to Sawyer's party.
I also made some super fun hippo and panda cupcakes to go with the wild animal theme.
Sawyer had a great time and of course loved the chocolate cherry cupcakes that he requested.
Post birthday party was pretty amazing too. He loved all the police and pirate Legos that he received and made sure to warn me that I wouldn't like any of them, because they ALL have guns. He is currently obsessed with gun play and I feel like he is taunting me. Everything is about guns. He keeps telling me that when he is an adult and has a job that he will buy a real gun. I will be so excited when this phase is over.

Look at this face!
Oh man, how do you say no to that face! I love this girl.
Cutest thing she says right now...efalant (ef-a-lant). That's how she says elephant.
Space Camp
What a fun week! Joana and her family stayed with us this week while they are in between homes, so the boys could go to space camp together at the flight museum. The space camp itself did not end up living up to my expectations, I was disappointed, but having Nathan and Sawyer together all week was quite fun. It was extra fun because it was Sawyer's birthday week, so I had all kinds of extra fun things planned. Birthday pancakes with sprinkles, present scavenger hunt, pirate ship piƱata, jello jigglers, gift wrapped snacks at camp, shaving cream plane/car wash and just a lot of spontaneous play. The boys had an extra good time playing marble maze and pretending to be pirates.

Melted crayon rocks
First craft I think I have ever come up with that Sawyer truly enjoyed. We collected rocks from the beach, heated them up in the over and then drew/painted on them with crayons as they melted. So cool, and a perfect embellishment for our garden.

the wonder that is Reese
"How come?" Most small children ask "why". Over and over and over. Hundreds of times a day, and admittedly it can get kind of exhausting. Reese on the other hand has never asked why, her version is "how come?" I am not sure how it started, probably picked it up from her big brother. But it is the cutest, especially in that adorable voice of hers. It melts my heart every time, even after the hundredth time.
One of my other favorite things about this girl, is that she wakes up wanting to put her shoes on and go outside. And then once we get outside she says "run, run". I love her energy and her happy spirit.

Fun with team Timm
Fun weekend at the Timm's house. Sawyer had a great time joining Ashley at her school carnival. And Reese loved being Ashley's mini me all weekend. We are so lucky to have such great friends.

Sibling love
Sawyer was pretty cute this afternoon with his sister. Sometimes the words he uses surprise me. Reese was signing please to him trying to get his snack. He asked me if she could have an almond and I said no because she still only has four teeth. He responded to me by saying "Perhaps she could have a cranberry." Then he turned to her and said "I love you Reesey so I will give you two cranberries." When we got home he promptly kicked her in the chest with his shoe on as she tried to sit next to him to get her shoes off. Aaaaah the beauty of a sibling love/hate relationship.
He also spilled water all over her and said "Not too bad. Not too bad. Just a little spill." then walked off singing "Love is an Open Door", or really just that sentence from the Frozen movie. He has only seen it once, but it was playing at the gym during his gymnastics class and it must of stuck.
Reese has started talking so much. She mimics lots of the words we say and today after prompting she said "sawreee" (sorry) to Sawyer for the first time.
Her first word was definitely birdie. Long before saying mama and papa, and she still says it all of the time. She is always looking for birdies. She has also started saying duck, woof for puppies, and today I noticed that when she sees a bunny she says hop.
Sawyer loves making up words for her and he tells me all about what she wants (or what he wants her to want!)

crafty little guy!
Sawyer's new thing...learning to lie! These days when Sawyer gets in trouble he questions me. Not about why he is in trouble, but how I knew he was doing something wrong. I reply "I just know", or "mothers see everything". So then he asks me "Did you hear the door close? Did you see me on the monitor? Did you hear my footsteps?" It's like he is trying to get me to learn how to lie better so he can avoid getting caught next time. It's driving me crazy! Do other children do this?

Driving me crazy
I am not sure what we were doing but a few days ago I said "Sawyer, you are driving me crazy!" and he replied "No mom, I am driving you to the beach!" ha ha ha. It's so funny how literal their world is. We forget sometimes.
What a special time this is with him. I am so lucky to be his mom.

Tin Tin and board games!
Sawyer and his Papa have been bonding over Tin Tin this past couple of weeks. It is really sweet to see them read together. Sawyer is so attentive, and listens so carefully. He LOVES these stories. He even asks for Papa to put him to bed the last couple of weeks so that he can pick Tin Tin as a bedtime story.
New for Sawyer since Christmas, is the playing of board games. YAY, finally! I have been waiting for a board game buddy. We have been playing Traintastic Cargo, Memory, Leapfrog Bingo and the Little Orchard. I am so excited for this stage.
What a fun month!
Reese has exploded this month! She learned to walk early in the month, and is usually in hot pursuit of her brother. It's not quite a run, but she is fast! There is no wobbly, hesitation in her steps. She also discovered that she can do more than just smile with that face of hers. She started pouting and furrowing her eyebrows this month, as well as a few other faces. It is so darn cute! It's incredibly hard not to laugh as she huffs and puffs. Today I asked her to sign please if she wanted Sawyer to give her what was in his hands and she refused and started crying. Finally she walked away. Then about 5 minutes later she walked back up to him and signed please. She realized we weren't going to give in. :)
She loves walking with clothes or blankets in her hands. She often layers them over her neck, or just holds them in front of her when she walks. Totally not safe for a beginning walker or anyone for that matter. She looks especially cute when she does this with Sawyer's stethoscope.
Somehow she has learned to somersault or almost anyway. I am not sure how that happened but she is pretty proud of herself when she does it. She has started dancing to music, and loves the vacuum and how it blows her hair up.
She is also becoming great and sliding down the stairs on her belly. The funny part (which I am thankful for) is that she turns around and lies down on her belly a good 2-3 feet away from the top of the stairs. So she starts scooting but usually goes sideways, and so runs into the wall or railing. Once she makes it to the stairs she basically slides down versus crawling to each step, so I have to be READY, she goes quick!
All in all I feel like she has exploded with personality and a new feisty attitude that we hadn't seen from her before this! I love this little girl!
